Skateboarder Hit by Car in San Marcos

Witnesses found the crash victim lying on Oleander Road, bleeding

A man called deputies Monday night saying he was behind the wheel of a hit-and-run accident involving a skateboarder in San Marcos.

The 20-year-old skateboarder was riding near Alamitos Way and Oleander Avenue just before 6 p.m. when he was hit by a passing vehicle.

Witnesses heard the crash and ran out to the street. They found the young man lying on the road, bleeding.

He was hospitalized with serious head injuries and was listed in critical condition Monday night.

The vehicle left the scene without stopping according to San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Several hours later, a man called deputies and admitted he was the driver involved in the accident.

When deputies arrived to the man’s home, they found a vehicle in the backyard that had damage consistent with debris found at the crash scene officials said.

Deputies took the car into evidence and arrested the man on unrelated charges.

The investigation into the crash involving the skateboarder is ongoing deputies said.
