Six Arrests Made From East Village DUI Checkpoint

San Diego Police arrested six people following an East Village DUI checkpoint Friday night.

2,189 cars passed through the checkpoint, in the 1400 block of G Street, which was operational from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. 1,135 drivers were screened and 14 detained for more evaluation. Eventually six arrests were made.

β€œThe message is simple, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over. Drinking alcohol and driving do not mix. If you plan to consume alcohol, you should also plan not to get behind the wheel of a vehicle or ride a motorcycle,” said Officer Mark McCullough.

SDPD reminds people to plan a safe way home before going out for the night, designate a sober driver or use a taxi service and to report drunk drivers by calling 911.
