Sexual Assault Suspects Apprehended

Two 16-year-old boys have been arrested for sexually assaulting two teenage girls

Two suspects have been arrested for a recent sexual assault case that occurred in Rancho Penasquitos. The suspects, age 16, were interviewed, processed, booked into Juvenile Hall and charged with multiple crimes.

On Sept. 3, two 15 and 16-year-old females went to a nearby park. As the girls were sitting under a tree, the two suspects walked past them on a path. The suspects then approached the girls from behind and suspects forced the girls, at knife point, to walk a short distance to a more secluded area in the park where they sexually assaulted both girls.

The girls reported the crime and officers checked the area for suspects. Sex Crimes Unit detectives interviewed the victims and witnesses and gathered all evidence related to the sexual assaults.

Yesterday the San Diego Police Sex Crimes Unit detectives investigating the case identified two juveniles as the suspects responsible for the sexual assaults of the teenage victims. During follow-up investigations, one juvenile was arrested without incident in Poway. Later in the day, a second suspect was arrested in South Bay.

Anyone with information concerning this case is asked to contact the San Diego Police Department’s Sex Crimes Unit at 619-531-2210 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
