Sex Predator to be Released into East County

East County should not be "dumping ground for sexually violent predators": Supervisor Jacob

A violent sexual predator is planned to be released into an East County community.

39-year-old Mikel Wayne Marshall was convicted of molesting four young boys, ages 4-8, between 1992 and 1994, according to the San Diego County District Attorney.

After spending the last 14 years in prison and a state hospital, the court decided last August that Marshall could safely be released, according to the DA. He would continue to receive treatment.

The court has proposed releasing Marshall to live in the 42,000-block of Desert Rose Ranch Road in Jacumba Hot Springs, which isnโ€™t sitting well with District 2 Supervisor Dianne Jacob.

โ€œWith his ugly rap sheet, Mikel Wayne Marshall belongs behind bars for good, not out in our community putting San Diego County residents at real risk. No neighborhood should be treated as a dumping ground for sexually violent predators,โ€ Jacob said in a statement released Wednesday.

Marshallโ€™s location will be finalized after a public hearing, scheduled for 9 a.m. Dec. 23 in San Diego Superior Court.
