Suspect Arrested in Trolley Stop Sex Assault

The Easter Sunday assault occurred at the Euclid Avenue trolley stop

Early in the morning, on Easter Sunday, an 18-year-old woman said she was sexually assaulted by a man near the Euclid Avenue trolley station.

San Diego County Crime Stoppers released a photo on Apr. 12 Thursday of a man suspected in the attack.

San Diego police said a man tried to rob a pedestrian near the trolley station at 400 Euclid Avenue around 3:30 a.m. on Apr. 8.

The unidentified man sexually assaulted the woman during the attempted robbery officers said.

A nearby surveillance camera captured an image of the suspect. He' s described as 18 to 23 years old, 6-feet to 6-feet-2-inches tall, 180-pounds with short black hair, wearing a baseball cap, dark jacket and dark pants.

On Apr. 19, detectives said they arrested the suspect in this trolley stop assault case. Police identified the suspect as a 19-year-old man named Joey Hazzard.

Hazzard was booked into San Diego Central Jail on charges of sexual assault.
