Security Guard Interrupts Robbery Near SDPD Headquarters

The unidentified suspect had forced the woman into a secluded area when the security guard came along just in time officers said

A security guard is being hailed a hero for saving a woman from a robbery near the San Diego police headquarters downtown.

San Diego police say the security guard from a downtown bar was parked along 14th Street between Broadway and E Streets around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday when he heard screams coming from behind some bushes.

“A witness heard a woman screaming for help and he stopped an interrupted an assault and the woman was not injured in the process,” said Sgt. Teresa Clark with San Diego police.

The suspect stole $20 and a restaurant gift card from the victim police said.

Officers said it appeared the suspect was about to sexually assault the victim.

The man had forced the woman into a secluded area when the security guard came along just in time officers said.
