Eastlake Shooting Victim's Indentity Released

One man is dead and other is injured after an Eastlake brawl

A 29-year-old man found shot to death after a brawl in the Eastlake Design District over the weekend has been idenified as Teddy Savangengoutha by the county's Medical Examiner's Office.

According to Chula Vista police, they received a call about a large fight early Sunday just before 1 a.m., along Showroom Place off Fenton Street, near the Ashley Furniture store.

When officers arrived they found a man with a gunshot wound to his chest and a second victim with a head injury from a blunt object. Paramedics performed CPR on the victim with the gunshot wound but he was declared dead at the scene. The victim with the head injury was transported to Mercy hospital and is expected to survive. The identities of the victims have not been released.

Witnesses said there were several suspects involved and that the suspects fled in a truck and a small car, possibly a Nissan Altima or Honda Civic.
