Scripps Expands Express Walk-in Clinics

Scripps Health in the coming months will have a dozen new walk-in clinics – offering services like flu care, vaccinations, point-of-care testing, and exams.

Called Scripps HealthExpress, the new clinics are open to the public and not only Scripps patients. They’ll be housed within existing Scripps Clinic or Scripps Coastal outpatient sites.

“HealthExpress is designed to provide high-quality medical services close to where people live and work. That’s why we are expanding this concept across the county,” said CEO Chris Van Gorder in a news release.

The dozen sites follow the first HealthExpress location in University City, which opened in late 2015. A HealthExpress recently opened in Carlsbad, located inside Scripps Coastal Medical Center Carlsbad, and over the next few months, additional HealthExpress offerings will open in Solana Beach, Rancho Bernardo, Carmel Valley, Hillcrest, Eastlake, Mission Valley, Torrey Pines, Oceanside, Rancho San Diego, Encinitas, and Vista.

Patients will be able to call a nurse triage line before visiting a HealthExpress clinic to gauge a fitting course of care.

HealthExpress and nurse triage hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday for patients ages 5 and older, with additional pediatric walk-in services available at the Rancho Bernardo and Carmel Valley locations starting in August.
