San Diego Police Shoot Pit Bull

A San Diego police officer shot a pit bull at home in City Heights Wednesday afternoon.  Sgt Darrell McPherren says officers went to the house on the four-thousand block of 35th Street after receiving calls 3 men were breaking in.

When they arrived they arrested the three men but when they opened a bedroom door they got another surprise.  Sgt McPherren says "a pit bull charged at the officer and he shot the dog". The dog was picked up by Animal Control and is expected to be okay.

Police say the men brought the dog with them to the home.
