San Diego had to say goodbye to one of its military heroes.
Lieutenant James C. Bounds died September 3rd at the age of 88. He joined the Navy in 1940, a year before the attack on Pearl Harbor.
He was assigned to USS Oklahoma and managed to survive that fateful day. He went on to earn several medals during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
The Santee resident was in the Navy for 27 years. He leaves behind his wife, Ruby Jean, two sons, five grand-children, and three great-grandchildren.
