San Diego Police are gearing up to protect the public as a plethora of large events come through the city in July.
For the past five days, excited baseball fans have been pouring into Petco Park and Downtown San Diego for the MLB All-Star Game. Police have been patrolling the area as well.
"It's a very busy month," SDPD Lt. Paul Connelly who oversees special projects said. "But it's also a very exciting month."
The All-Star game comes on the heels of the tragedy in Dallas, where a Dallas Area Rapid Transit officer and four Dallas Police Department officers were killed. A series of tragedies and growing rallies across the U.S. have put increased pressure on law enforcement.
"It raises a level of concern when you have an incident like that," Connelly said.
C.J. Good was one of many fans in downtown for the excitement with his son on Tuesday.
"There's police all over the place...They are out here with a smile, with heavy hearts, but with big smiles and very polite," Good said.

Connelly admits it's a busy time in the city, but says thankfully, San Diego is used to hosting large events.
"We all pull together and make it happen," he said.
Police are working to make it happen with extra shifts and longer hours amid a staffing shortage in their department.
"Hopefully it stays calm and everyone has a good time," said Jaimie Halliday, another baseball fan enjoying the events.
The All-Star festivities are only the beginning of a long list of events happening in San Diego this July.
On Wednesday afternoon, Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to speak on trade enforcement at the Port of San Diego. Sources say the same day, presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump is holding a fundraiser at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club.
Later in the week, it keeps getting busier for police.
San Diego Pride events start on Friday and go into Sunday. For the first time this year, Pride organizers will have metal detectors at entrances to the parade in light of the tragedy in Orlando.
At the end of the month, San Diego Comic-Con will return to America's Finest City. The popular event kicks off Thursday, July 21 and runs through the weekend.
By the time Comic-Con is done, those guys are going to be exhausted," Good said.
San Diego police tell NBC 7 San Diego they will release more details of their plans for the upcoming events on Wednesday.
