For some San Diego students, a meal at school is often their only source of nourishment each day. This summer, more than 200 San Diego locations will be providing daily lunches to children in need.

The San Diego Hunger Coalition and the US Department of Agriculture have organized a Summer Food Service Program to provide meals for children around San Diego County over summer break.

Kids 18 years old and younger will be able to receive meals for free without paperwork or enrollment at more than 200 locations in San Diego.

According to San Diego Hunger Coalition, 59 percent of children who benefit from reduced-price school lunches in San Diego County do not have access to a daily source of nutrition during the summer.

The San Diego Hunger Coalition is educating families about the hundreds of providers in San Diego to make sure all children in the community have enough to eat this summer.

Parents can find their nearest Summer Food Service Program by texting FOOD to 877-877, calling 2-1-1 San Diego, or checking the program's website.
