Turns out America's Finest City is also one of America's fittest cities.
Considering the seaside county has near-perfect weather all year, it should come as no surprise that San Diego was ranked among the top 20 fittest cities in the U.S. by the American College of Sports Medicine annual American Fitness Index.
San Diego came in at number 16, while neighboring city Los Angeles seems a little less fit – it ranked at no. 38. Must be all that smog.
Up north, San Francisco was ranked fourth fittest city with Sacramento at no. 6 and San Jose at 12th.
ACSM evaluated the country’s most populous cities and determined their fitness levels through personal health indicators, environmental indicators, recreational activities and levels of chronic disease conditions.
Minneapolis St.-Paul topped the chart for fittest city, following by Washington D.C. and Boston.
