Cheers to San Diego Beer Week

There's a lot on tap for this year's event, dedicated to craft beer culture in San Diego

San Diego celebrates a healthy craft brewing culture year-round, but this November local brews will get an extra boost during San Diego Beer Week.

This year, the celebration of suds runs from Nov. 1-10, with a special kickoff weekend full of fun on Nov. 1-2, which includes the San Diego Brewers Guild Festival at Port Pavilion at Broadway Pier in downtown San Diego. That event will boast samples from more than 50 craft breweries around the county. Get tickets here.

Other kickoff festivities on tap include: a Rip Current Brewing event at the SD TapRoom on Garnet Avenue (Nov. 1); the Rare Beer Breakfast at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens in Escondido (Nov. 1); and the “BYOB” Breakfast at the Karl Strauss Tasting Room (Nov. 1).

After that weekend, even more events will go down across the county in connection with the 10-day beer bonanza, including tasting sessions at different local pubs and eateries.

On Nov. 4, Stone Brewery will offer a beer education and tasting event dubbed “Beer U: Craft Beer in San Diego,” boasting the scoop on San Diego’s best breweries and, of course, sudsy samples.

For those who like the idea of getting schooled in craft culture, the San Diego Museum of Man will offer its brand-new exhibit, “Beerology,” throughout San Diego Beer Week and beyond.

Finally, on Nov. 10, Beer Week will wrap with The Beer Garden at The Lodge at Torrey Pines, bringing together top-notch local breweries and chefs to celebrate the craft beer movement.

The Beer Garden will boast 24 breweries and 12 chefs – the perfect pairing for foodies and beer aficionados alike. Tickets, which can be purchased here, cost $75 per person and include unlimited food and beer pairings, plus valet parking.

San Diego Beer Week organizers say the 10-day, countywide festival is meant to attract beer tourism to San Diego, foster knowledge of our regional brewing heritage and serve as a showcase for the top-notch breweries, restaurants and pubs cranking out some of the finest brews in America’s Finest City.
