San Diego Bachelors Look for Love

Two of the contestants in this season's The Bachelorette are San Diego men

Two of the bachelors this season could be guys you’d bump into at the grocery store around San Diego.

Julien, listed on the site as 34 and from San Diego, is actually Julien Hug, the man behind the local restaurant Mille Fleurs, according to a local columnist. He was featured in San Diego Magazine several years ago talking about his dad Bertrand Hug, the namesake of Bertrand at Mister A’s.

“We made it official that Julien would manage Mille Fleurs on the restaurant’s 20th anniversary, January 3, 2005,” Bertrand Hug told the magazine then. “He was pretty reticent at first, because he knows what a slave driver I am, but he’s always earned his keep.”

Encinitas business developer Kiptyn, 31 is also competing for the hand of this season’s bachelorette, Jillian Harris.

On the show’s online message boards, Kiptyn has gotten some good press. One blogger described him as “a surfer, claims he's a romantic, looks GREAT in the ocean and has the perfect white teeth.’

The series premiere aired Monday night, May 18. Time will tell if either will be the last man standing in this 'competition of love.'
