Sam's Club Offers Discount to Military Families Amid Commissary Closures

Sam’s Club announced Friday that it will offer military families free shopping passes due to the closure of military commissaries.

Military commissaries closed indefinitely Wednesday as a result of the U.S. government shutdown, immediately affecting already cash-strapped military families.

Officials with Sam’s Club stores said that the free shopping passes will be available to military personnel, retirees, and their families.

In order to get the passes, military shoppers will need to show military ID or proof of past or present military service at a Sam’s Club Member Service counter.

The discount will continue until military commissaries in the U.S. re-open, according to a media release.
