The shaking had to slow down sometime.
Seismologists report there were fewer earthquakes Friday near Bombay Beach in the Salton Sea area...after nearly a week of hundreds of quakes. In fact, there hasn't been a temblor above magnitude 3.0 since Thursday.
The quake activity started over the weekend and climaxed earlier this week. Hundreds swarmed the area ranging from 0.4 to 4.8.
Caltech scientists say swarms are typical in the area. Nevertheless they are keeping close eye on the activity, and are looking to see how it affects the more dangerous san andreas fault.
