A sailor is missing from a San Diego-based Navy ship off the coast of Somalia.
The Navy says an air and sea search began Tuesday for the sailor, who failed to report for watch aboard the amphibious ship Boxer in the Gulf of Aden.
The sailor's next of kin have been notified by the Navy, and his or her name will not be released until the search concludes, a Navy press release stated.
The Boxer is part of a Navy group that was deployed in March to security operations in the pirate-infested waters between Yemen and Somalia.
