Drunk Suspect in Custody After SWAT Standoff in North Park

San Diego police say they took an intoxicated suspect into custody after he prompted a SWAT standoff in North Park Wednesday night.

Police say gunshots went off at a home in the 3400 block of Nile Street at about 7:15 p.m.

No one was hit, but the suspect refused to come out of the home.

The suspect was seen talking on the phone as negotiations began and the SWAT team surrounded the home.

Houses along Nile Street and Myrtle Avenue were evacuated, and other residents were told to shelter in place. Neighbors reported their home had been hit by errant gunfire.

At about 11:15 p.m., the drunk suspect came out of the house and surrendered without incident, police say. Everyone was then allowed back into their homes.

It's unclear if officers found a gun or what charges the man will be facing.
