SUV Slams into Cars, House in Hillcrest

A driver in Hillcrest lost control of his Toyota early on Monday, ping-ponging from a parked car into a house before becoming trapped inside the vehicle.

Emergency operators got a call at about 6:15 a.m. about the wreck near the intersection of Tyler and Cleveland avenues.

"The driver was making a movement to the left -- and it's really unsure what he was planning on doing -- either making a U-turn or just making a left turn," said San Diego police Officer Patrick Laco. "For whatever reason, the vehicle went right through a parked vehicle and continued onto private property and collided with the building."

Laco said the driver was trapped in his car after the crash and was rescued by firefighters. It's not clear what injuries the driver suffered. Laco said he did not believe drugs or alcohol played in part in the crash.

The driver was taken to a nearby hospital after the wreck, police said. Nobody else was injured in the crash.
