SDSU Not a Top Party School: Playboy

Campus sorority recognized in rankings

Playboy Magazine revealed its annual list of top 10 party schools in the United States on Friday, and for the second straight year, San Diego State was not among them.

The school has been absent from the list since ranking third in 2009.

The University of Colorado at Boulder placed first, followed by Pennsylvania State University and Arizona State University.

Playboy's lone nod to San Diego State came when it awarded its Alpha Phi chapter the title of country's "hottest sorority."

The top-10 rankings were based on a range of factors, including academics, female-to-male ratio,  winning percentage of sports teams, and proximity to beaches, ski resorts and lively music scenes, according to a media release.

Its editors also collected input from students, social media followers, alumni and campus representatives.

The publication's full list of top 10 party schools is as follows:

  1. University of Colorado at Boulder
  2. Pennsylvania State University
  3. Arizona State University
  4. University of Western Ontario
  5. University of Texas at Austin
  6. University of Wisconsin
  7. University of Georgia
  8. University of Tennessee, Knoxville

  10. University of California, Santa Barbara
