SDPD Searches Hillcrest Neighborhood for Burglary Suspect with Gun

San Diego police were searching for a man who broke into a Hillcrest home overnight while the family was still inside.

Officers were called to Myrtle Avenue and Vermont Street around 1 a.m. Tuesday

The resident told police he awoke and found someone in his home.

The man, believed to be about 5-foot, 8-inches tall with a thin build wearing a green T-shirt and plaid shorts, ran through a door or window upstairs, the resident told police.

A gun stored in one of the home’s closets was reported missing so police searched the home and set up a perimeter in the neighborhood.

The suspect, believed to be armed, was not found, officials said.
