An San Diego Police Department patrol car was rear-ended early Thursday morning.
The driver of a Nissan Altima ran a red light at the intersection at Ash and First St. downtown at about 12:30 a.m., according to the department.
No one was seriously injured but both vehicles were badly damaged.
Police say that they will not be filing a citation to the person who ran a red light.
