SD Police Rescue 7 Ducklings Trapped Beneath Storm Drain

San Diego police officers detained seven “suspects” in Mission Valley. But they weren’t hauled off to jail.

The ducklings, trapped beneath a storm drain, were reunited with their mama duck, thanks to the police and animal control officers.

The San Diego Police Department posted a video of the heartwarming rescue on its Facebook page on Monday; it’s already amassed hundreds of shares.

The video shows the mama duck watching from across a busy street as the officers pulled the ducklings from the drain to be reunited.

The animals were then taken to a pond at the River Walk Golf Course.

Animal Control officers said it’s common for ducklings to slip through the slits of storm drains; it’s unclear how common it is for police officers to rescue them.

It also wasn’t clear how the officers came across the ducklings in distress.
