Flash Flooding Damages Homes in Borrego Springs

Several homes were damaged by flooding in the De Anza community located on the north side of Borrego Springs.

In the Borrego Palm Canyon area, NBC 7 user Jeri submitted video showing water flowing past old campsites that were washed out in 2004 captured on Sunday.

More than three inches of rain fell in some spots on Sunday according to NBC 7's Whitney Southwick.A flash flood watch was in effect through Monday evening according to the National Weather Service.

Rock slides and mudslides were reported along State Route 78 after heavy rains moved through the area Sunday.

The slides were spotted near San Felipe Road on the main thoroughfare through San Diego’s East County.

Caltrans says SR-78 was down to just one lane at several different places between Julian and Brawley.

There was one-way traffic control in place Monday along SR-78 near Split Mountain Road to SR-86 in Imperial County.
