Robbers Assault Motel Clerk Before Stealing Her Car: PD

Carlsbad police officers are looking for a pair of robbery suspects accused of sticking up a motel and fleeing in a stolen car.

The Carlsbad Police Department said a man and a woman came into the lobby of a Motel 6 on Paseo del Norte at around 10 a.m. Monday and demanded a free room.

The male suspect then brandished a handgun and demanded cash from a female employee, who he struck in the head with the gun.

Police say the man's gun went off during the altercation.

He then stole the woman's keys and the pair fled the property in her 2017 white Toyota Corolla with California license plate 7VPV398.

The male suspect is described as 25 to 35 years old, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet 2 inches, and weighing 180 pounds. He was seen on lobby surveillance cameras wearing a blue Los Angeles Dodgers shirt, denim jeans, and black shoes.

The female suspect is described as 25 to 30 years old with a thin build and dark hair. She was seen wearing a blue jean jacket and a colorful scarf.
