Officers Responding to Reports of Knife in Neck of Juvenile: PD

A little boy was hit in the head with a knife at his apartment in San Ysidro, San Diego Police Department (SDPD) officers confirmed.

The incident happened at approximately 2:13 p.m. Sunday on the 2300 block of East Beyer Boulevard, police said.

The boy and his older brother were playing with a knife Sunday afternoon when the older brother accidentally stabbed his younger brother in the back of his head, Sgt. Gary Avalos with SDPD said.

“By the time we arrived the mother had the child in her arms. The knife was already removed according to the dispatchers," Avalos confirmed.

The boy was conscious and breathing when officers arrived. The cut appeared to be minor, but he was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The boys' mother was in the apartment when the accident happened, but did not witness the incident, Avalos said.

Police are treating it as an accident, but the investigation is ongoing.
