Report: Deputy Charged With Beating Girlfriend at Party

A San Diego sheriff's deputy is free on bail and facing five felonies for allegedly beating his girlfriend during a raucous party at his home in San Ysidro, according to a published report.

Deputy Leanno Martinez, 32, who was arrested April 5, pleaded not guilty and was released on bail this week, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The charges include battery, false imprisonment, making a criminal threat, assault with intent to inflict great bodily harm, and inflicting injury.

Martinez is scheduled for a readiness conference May 12 in Superior Court and a preliminary hearing June 4, the newspaper reported.
