A man who pushed his ex-girlfriend to her death from a second-story balcony during an argument will spend 15 years to life in prison, according to a published report.
Eduardo Duarte was convicted of second-degree murder and misdemeanor child endangerment last month.
Witnesses testified during the trial that Duarte went to Ana Valdez's Otay Mesa apartment last April for a custody exchange of their 3-year-old son began to argue with her because she had started to see another man.
Witnesses say during the argument, Duarte threw Valdez over the second-floor balcony, in front of her 12-year-old daughter.
Valdez, 41, died at a hospital several days later.
