A man walking his dog north of La Jolla Shores called police Thursday morning and reported finding a torso in the ocean near Scripps Pier.
Lifeguards, San Diego police and investigators with the medical examiner’s office responded to the pier.
After examining the remains, the medical examiner determined the remains are not human.
