Major Recycling Event Heads to Qualcomm Stadium

Big-ticket items like old couches and mattresses can be safely disposed of at Qualcomm Stadium Saturday

Those who’ve been meaning to get rid of an old couch, mattress or broken electronics and appliances can head over to Qualcomm Stadium Saturday to recycle their stuff.

The City of San Diego’s Environmental Services Department and Transportation & Storm Water Department are hosting a free Community Clean-Up & Recycling from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the stadium open to all San Diego residents.

There, locals can easily dispose of large items such as junk furniture, mattresses, metals, electronics and appliances, which will ultimately be recycled.

Fluorescent light bulbs and household batteries will also be accepted at the recycling event.

According to the Environmental Services Department, items that will not be accepted include tires, construction and demolition debris such as concrete, bricks or porcelain fixtures and hazardous waste including paint, pesticides, motor oil or propane tanks.
