2-Year-Old Boy Found Wandering Streets: PD

A passerby found the child wandering Rancho Mission Road, unaccompanied Thursday morning

An unaccompanied two-year-old boy was found wandering the streets of San Diego’s Grantville area early Thursday, police confirmed.

The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) said a passerby found the toddler around 3:45 a.m. in the 5800 of Rancho Mission Road and called police.

It is unclear, at this point, why the child was out at this hour or why he was unsupervised.

Police officers picked up the boy and took him to the A.B. & Jessie Polinsky Children’s Center, a 24-hour facility that serves as a temporary emergency shelter for San Diego children separated from their families.

The police department did not immediately release further details of this case, including details on the child's parents.

Police did say they received a separate phone call around the same time as this incident from someone reporting their 2-year-old was missing near Mission Center Road. Officials are investigating if this call is related to the toddler discovered wandering on Rancho Mission Road. The streets are approximately three miles apart in the Mission Valley East and Grantville areas, respectively.
