Ramona House Explosion Victim Identified

24-year-old man dies after explosion destroys home.

The victim of a house fire in Ramona was identified Sunday. The medical examiner says 24-year-old Joseph Wayel Nesheiwat died after an explosion destroyed the home early Friday morning.

The cause of death was listed as second and third degree thermal burns and inhalation of 'products of combustion.'  The medical examiner said Nesheiwat suffered blast injuries to his face and chest.

Firefighters arrived on North Woodson Drive around 1:30 a.m. and flames were already burning through the roof of the home.  It took 30 firefighters to put out the initial fire, but they were putting out hot spots for at least four additional hours.

The garage door was blown into the street and parts of the home were in the front and back yards, Calfire Captain Nick Schuler said. Emergency workers found a man's body in the rear of the home.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
