A Ramona woman is getting national attention for a prayer she wrote several years ago for a group of firefighters.
Trish Houston wrote a prayer read by the lone survivor of the Granite Mountain Hotshots at this week's memorial service for 19 members of the team killed while battling the Yarnell Fire near Prescott, Ariz.
On Thursday, Houston told NBC 7she wrote The Hotshot’s Prayer 11 years ago because there were no prayers specifically for hotshot firefighters, like her husband Jim who works for the Laguna Hotshots.
She says she's honored to know her prayer is able to help the wives who lost their husbands.
"I cried, I cried a lot. It was really sad to see,” she said.
“I had my husband home with me that night and,” she pauses crying, “And those wives didn't have that, to get the chance to see their husbands walk home.”
