A woman was killed and a man was airlifted to the hospital after a shooting at a Ramona home Wednesday, officials confirmed.

Deputies received a 911 call at about 12 p.m. alerting them to a murder-suicide in the 24000 block of Del Amo Road, according to San Diego County Sheriff's Department (SDSO) Lt. Rich Williams. After alerting officers, the caller hung up.

One woman was found dead in the home, Williams said. A man was found wounded near her. Neither has been publicly identified.

No one else was found inside the home.

The man was transported via air ambulance to Palomar Medical Center, Cal Fire public information officer Isaac Sanchez said. His wounds appear to be life-threatening, according to Williams.

Homicide detectives were called to investigate. They have not said if they consider this to be a murder-suicide attempt.
