Ramona High Employee Dies at School

An employee of Ramona High School was found dead in a school bathroom on Tuesday morning, school officials said.

The 69-year-old employee, who was a computer media technician, did not interact directly with the students, said Cynthia Salow, the principal's secretary.

A school librarian discovered the employee's body shortly after 7 a.m. School officials said the man typically left work at 1 p.m., but never left school on Monday.

His car was found in the parking lot on Tuesday morning.

No foul play was suspected in the case; the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and medical examiner conducted an investigation Tuesday morning, according to the Ramona Sentinel.

Students were notified by a phone recording from the school principal.

The newspaper reported that school attendance was lighter than usual because only sophomores were on campus to take the California high school exit exam.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was described as quiet and pleasant by school officials. He had been battling recent health problems.

"He was an instructional media  technician, he's been at the school since 2006," said Robert Graeff, superintendent of Ramona Unified School District. "He's elderly but competent, someone who was gentle and well liked by those who knew him. Kind of a quiet personality."
