Ramona-Based Spirits Importer Reacquires Family Name

Ramona-based HPS Epicurean, a third-generation company that imports and markets internationally made spirits, wines and culinary niche brands, recently reacquired rights to the original family name of Preiss Imports.

Financial terms were not disclosed for the transaction in which the company reacquired the Preiss name from The Griffin Group, which bought Preiss Imports in 2008.

Henry Preiss and daughter Nicole Preiss founded HPS Epicurean in 2012, and a company statement said the name change back to Preiss Imports took effect on July 5.

Officials said the new Preiss Imports will continue to market existing brands including Polugar, Agricanto and Centerba, and will be adding new brands to its portfolio later this year.

The new name will be implemented across the company’s spirits division and overall branding, with the culinary and wine categories remaining under the HPS Epicurean name.
