Rain May Be on the Way

Chance of precipitation throughout day around county

Rainy weather hit parts of the county Monday morning -- and there may be more on the way.

The best chance of showers or thunderstorms will continue to be in the mountains and deserts, but with so much monsoonal moisture moving up from Mexico, at least a little rain is possible just about everywhere.

The day started off with a marine layer of clouds and fog, with high and midlevel clouds above. By midmorning, light rain started falling over the mountains, with heavier showers visible on radar south of the border. High pressure centered over Arizona will continue to spin potentially wet weather our way through Tuesday, so be prepared. Even if you don't get wet, you'll probably wish you were getting some rain, because it should be a very muggy afternoon.

We're expecting 80s and 90s with high humidity throughout East County, so get ready to sweat. At the coast, we'll see partly cloudy skies off and on, with highs only in the 70s, so, as usual, the beach is the place to be to escape the East County heat.

We should be under the same pattern on Tuesday, with slightly cooler temperatures moving in the later part of the week. The Fourth of July weekend is expected to be sunny and warm, with beach highs in the low 70s and valley highs in the mid 80s.
