Police say they tried to pull over two people just after 5:30 p.m. who were in a car that was reported stolen from El Cajon.

Authorities attempted to stop the driver and passenger on I-8 near Severin Dr., but they took off, running red lights and stop signs before driving onto Interstate-8 at speeds of up to 85 mph.

According to La Mesa Police, the stolen car had two flat tires before getting on the freeway, which may have resulted from hitting a curb.

Eventually, the driver made an abrupt turn off the freeway prior to the Severin Dr. exit. The car collided with a wall on Murray Dr. just south of Anthony’s Fish Grotto restaurant, Police said.

As the vehicle began smoking, Police said the suspects, Everette Borha and Hector Ramos, allegedly fled on foot. The driver was tased near the car and the passenger was arrested in the parking lot of the restaurant.

The driver was taken to Alvarado hospital to have the taser darts removed. Both suspects were taken into custody and booked in San Diego County Jail on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, evading in a vehicle and resisting arrest.
