Puppies Rescued in Rollover Crash

Firefighters used special equipment to rescue one newborn from the crushed SUV

A litter of newborn puppies is safe with its owners, but not after going through quite the scare in a rollover car accident.

The crash happened just after 6 p.m. Tuesday on southbound Interstate 15 just north of Balboa Avenue.

The owner's Jeep Cherokee rolled down a 40-foot embankment, landing on its roof.

One puppy had to be rescued by firefighters using special equipment.

The people inside suffered minor injuries, but all dogs were okay. There were six babies, the pups' mother, father and older sister.

No word on what may have caused the SUV to land in the ravine alongside the highway.
