Protective Dog Keeps Paramedics Away from Injured Owner

It was an unusual standoff: paramedics vs. protective dog.

Emergency crews were involved in an unusual standoff in Golden Hill.

It wasn’t a person keeping medics back. Instead, it was a very protective dog.

A medical call was reported near 25th and E Streets around 8: 30 p.m.

Crews responded to a call of a person with a possible broken.

When they arrived, they found a large black dog hovering over his owner, not allowing anyone within five feet of the man.

The victim's brother arrived and was able to calm the dog down and move him away from the injured owner so emergency crews could get the man on a gurney and get him to a nearby hospital.
