If you see smoke in the air near Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Wednesday through Saturday this week, military officials want you to know they are conducting prescribed burns.
Flames and smoke may be visible from MCAS Miramar east into West Sycamore Canyon all the way to Scripps Ranch.
Drivers along Interstate 15 and State Route 52 may see the smoke, official said.
The burns are aimed at removing hazardous fuel growth to reduce the risk of a wildfire. The base said setting the fires is part of the annual vegetation-management program.
