A shell found in Lake Murray on Wednesday afternoon prompted a bomb squad response, according to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD).
Police say someone reported finding the shell around 2:12 p.m. on Lake Ashmere Drive and Lake Murray Boulevard. Since it was unknown if the shell was live or not, a bomb squad was called out to the scene.
The scene was cleared approximately an hour later, according to SDPD. An officer on scene told NBC 7 the shell had been a practice grenade.
No evacuations were ordered.
