Pool Cleaning Chems Prompt Road Closure

A pool truck driver heading to work overturned his truck at Genesee and Linda Vista Road Monday morning. The driver was uninjured but pool cleaning chemicals spilled on the roadway.

San Diego firefighters responded, shut down the road and called in hazmat crews for cleanup.

β€œA few chemicals spilled. Not much. A little bit of acid, a little bit of chlorine but not much,” said Capt. Cliff Joralman with San Diego Fire.

They think a little bit of the chemicals went into the storm drain because it was raining at the time of the accident.

Firefighters put dams in the curbs to make sure the least amount would go down the storm drain. Crews tested the water around and made sure there was no leak into the area’s water system.
