Police Searching for Man That Tried to Rob a Pizza Shop, Stole a Car

Police are looking for a man they say tried to rob a pizza shop and stole a car minutes apart at knifepoint.

The carjacking suspect has been able to evade police since Friday. Police say he’s not just wanted for carjacking, he’s also suspected of trying to rob a Domino’s Pizza on the 8400 block of Jamacha Road.

Surveillance video from the shop has been turned over to police. But they’re not releasing it at this time.

A female employee told her boss the crook said, “I don’t want to hurt you, so just give up the money.”

According to police when the she didn't fork over any cash, the clean shaven man in his twenties pulled something silver out of his pocket--flashed it at the employee--then put it away.

Her boss says he didn’t see anything when he came to her aid, but says there was definitely an implied threat.

“He never showed a weapon. So he had his hands in his pocket making a clicking noise like he had a gun. That definitely freaked out the female employee, " said Jason Castellanos.

Castellanos says when he told the suspect to get from behind the counter, he changed his tune.

“He said, 'Oh, I wanted to order a pizza.' I’m like, 'Well okay, I'll help you out,'” said Castellano. That’s when he says the man ran away saying, “Well oh you don’t have what I'm looking for."

Police said the crook found what he was looking for across the street in the parking lot of Li Va' s Grocery store, where he stole a car from a man napping in his car.

The suspect demanded the victim start his car and told him to get out. He did, and the man drove off in the car. The car was a 2009 gray four door Toyota Camry.

Police say he used a homemade knife.

A security guard who wasn’t on shift at the time talked to the victim.
“He said he took the knife and put it right there," the guard said, pointing to his neck.

Police are searching for the suspect. He is described as 5 feet 5 inches, 130 to 150 pounds and approximately 24 years old with a clean shave.
