Police Search for Suspect in Beating Death

Chula Vista police went to a homeless camp in search of answers in the beating death of a 52-year-old man who lived there, it was reported Saturday.

Police were notified of a body north of the Sweetwater River Channel, between state Route 54 and 30th Street, about 11 a.m. Friday.

The man reportedly died of blows to the head, Chula Vista police Lt. Don Redmond told The San Diego Union-Tribune.

On Saturday, detectives with a warrant for the man's tent went to the camp to look for evidence and found evidence of a struggle, Redmond said.

Authorities were withholding the victim's name.
