Police Release Sketch of Failed Kidnap Suspect

The public is being asked to help find a man who tried to grab a boy on a bike over the weekend.

The child was riding his bike by himself in the 1700 block of Manzana Way in the Bay Terraces neighborhood of San Diego on Sunday when the suspect drove up behind him in a older red sedan -- possibly a Honda Civic -- then got out and ran up to the boy and grabbed him by the shirt. The child was able to get away, though, and rode off on his bicycle.

Police said the man is white, 30-40 years old and has blond or light-brown hair. He was unshaven, and was wearing black shorts and a gray T-shirt.

Anybody with information about the case or the suspect is being urged to call San Diego police at 619-531-2000 or Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 888-580-8477.
