Police Pursuit Ends in Coronado Bridge Crash

A police pursuit of a man possibly associated with a woman found unconscious in National City ended suddenly Friday evening when the suspect vehicle collided with a fixed object on the Coronado Bridge.

Michael Osuna, 35, was taken into custody following a chase that began after officers responded to a disturbance call at 10:43 p.m. on the 300 block of E. 22nd Street.

National City police arrived to find a woman lying unconscious on the street, and it located a vehicle matching witness descriptions as one that fled from the scene.

Officers engaged Osuna in pursuit, but upon his stopping, he refused to cooperate with officer commands, police said.

Osuna then allegedly drove toward an on-foot officer from close proximity. The officer fired two rounds that struck the vehicle but missed the driver, police said.

The suspect vehicle then collided with a nearby parked car, and officers continued their pursuit to the City of Coronado where the chase ended with Osuna’s crash on the landmark bridge.

Osuna did not suffer any injuries in the incident, police said, and the female found unconscious was transported to a hospital.

Her condition was not released, and the investigation is continuing.
