Police Need Help to Solve Hit-and-Run

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver of a truck involved in a hit-and-run accident that severely injured a man trying to cross a North County road.

The 60-year-old pedestrian was struck by a white full-size pickup truck towing a black flatbed trailer on North Nutmeg Street in Escondido about 5:45 p.m. Friday, according to police.

The driver fled the scene.

The victim was hospitalized in "very serious" condition, Lt. Tom Albergo said.
