Police Looking for Man Who Stole Impounded Pit Bull From Kennel

San Diego Police are looking for a man who cut a padlock off a kennel and stole a red pit bull.

Ryder, a 62-pound male red pit bull, was taken Tuesday from the County of San Diego Department of Animal Services (SDAS).

The dog has been impounded three times so far in 2015, said SDAS spokesman Dan DeSousa. The owner would have had to pay $341 to reclaim the dog, including neuter and impound board fees.

His owner, Christopher Snow, came to the shelter with two friends and cut the padlock off the dog's kennel, DeSousa said. He grabbed the pit bull and ran through the lobby with him. On his way out, he shoved staff members out of the way who tried to stop him.

Police tracked down two of his friends and questioned them, DeSousa said. It is unclear if any arrests were made. They are looking for the dog and the man who took him.

There is no word yet on any description of the man.

No further information was immediately available.
